Greenwich Garden Tours | Green with Envy

Nothing is quite as special as wandering through magnificent Greenwich gardens and being thrilled by the breathtaking landscapes.

On June 10th, the Garden Education Center of Greenwich offered the public that opportunity as part of its annual Garden Tour, GRANDIFLORA: GREEN WITH ENVY.

Featuring six world class Greenwich gardens, over 600 visitors came from near and far to take the self -guided tour. They were treated to trees and plantings that were generations old. They were awed by glorious landscapes, meandering streams, rustic woodlands, moss covered bridges and charming koi ponds. Flowerbeds, some formally displayed and others tucked among rock outcroppings were everywhere. The colors were dazzling.

This event, one of the Garden Education Center’s main fundraisers, was organized in partnership with VERANDA magazine, its national media sponsor. A silent auction was held at one of the properties with items donated by VERANDA. The Patron Lunch was hosted by the Garden Education Center’s President, Karen Sadik-Khan at her lovely waterfront home. A number of dignitaries attended including First Selectman, Peter Tesei as well as Hearst Magazine’s President, Cathleen Black, Honorary Chairs, Carolyne Roehm, Designer, and Carolyn Englefield, VERANDA Magazine’s Editor-at-Large.

A non-profit organization that has served the Greenwich community since 1957, the Garden Education Center is often referred to as a Town gem. Offering outreach and educational programs to both adults and children, GEC’s location in the Town’s Montgomery Pinetum also provides acres of beautiful grounds for residents to walk and enjoy nature. And it runs a fully equipped greenhouse with professional staff that teaches both the novice and the experienced gardener.
